Defunct: Tobias

Tobias was the alias of the owner of the now-defunct raptor.life dark-net directory that was online from May of 2019 until early 2022, which listed marketplaces, vendor shops, and known scammers, along with their status, such as offline or compromised. According to Witchman05, co-creator of the popular dark-net Envoy forum, made several claims on the Dread forum that Tobias is a scammer who was previously known as “KingArcherTheMagnificent”, the owner of the Avior and Hyper marketplaces, both of which stole all of their users’ cryptocurrency and permanently shut-down.

Several users on Dread claimed that they had paid Tobias to have their services listed on raptor.life, but never got a listing or a refund. They also posted screenshots to back up their claims, which got the attention of the Bohemia market staff who wrote “definitely a warning to any marketplaces just starting off should this be genuine”, though the screenshots are no longer available. Raptor.life has since been offline shortly after these claims were made. If the claims are true, Tobias may have pulled off a dark-net directory exit-scam. On raptor.life, legitimate services were sometimes listed as “Compromised” or were indicated to be likely readying for an exit-scam, when they either were not, or long before they actually did. This has led to speculation among Dread users that Tobias was intentionally mislabeling legitimate markets in order to promote their own markets that were launched with the intent of eventually stealing all of their users’ funds before permanently going offline.
