Outlaw was one of the first markets ever created on the darknet. Its story dates back to the year 2013, probably having been beaten only by the original Silk Road, and it was not until the disappearance of the latter that it won some more of traction in what to acquire users regards. That said, all news media seem to agree that Outlaw was never a favorite, the phrase "The site was never the most popular destination" being recurrent to describe it. Even so, its administrators managed to keep it online until May 16, 2017, when allegedly suffered a hack that forced them to finish its operations. The message displayed when users accessed the platform's URL in that date was the following:
